At least 27 people, including three children, have been killed by midnight airstrikes on a hospital in Syria. According to charities on the ground, at least 14 patients and staff – including three children – are among the casualties.
A wave of strikes hit al-Quds field hopsital, in the rebel-held district of Sukkari in Aleppo, just before midnight on Wednesday. Rescuers are now deperately trying to save the lives of victims who are still buried under rubble.
Footage posted by volunteers on the ground shows the a horrific number of lifeless bodies, including children, being pulled out from the building and loaded into ambulances. Onlookers scream and cry for their loved ones.
The hospital itself is a well-known local institution, supported by renowned international charity Doctors Without Borders (MSF). The Civil Defence, a volunteer-run first-responders agency, said the area was hit with four consecutive airstrikes.
